BAYONNE LIONS CLUB
DISTRICT VISIT

At a recent meeting the Bayonne Lions Club was honored with a
visit by senior officials of District 16-A. Seen in the photo,
at which a banner was presented, are Chapter President Matthew
Dorans (L), District Vice Governor Charles Landesman, and
District Governor Alberto Perrez (R).
Among the recent Chapter accomplishments noted were
successful fund raisers including an Easter candy drive and
Atlantic City bus trips, the expansion of their collection
outlets for eyewear, and the awarding of three monetary
citizenship awards to local high school students. Participation
at the new Bergen Point Merchants Fall Fair by Lions Annette and
Mark Rubin initiated a successful local membership drive. One of
the members, Lion Walter Wiechetek even represented the Chapter
at the Service Meetings on board the maiden voyages of the Queen
Mary 2; and the Bayonne Chapter received recognition for that
from her Commodore Ronald Warwick.
The occasion of the District visit permitted long service
members to be honored in recognition of twenty five years of
active Chapter participation. They included Dr. Benjamin LaGoda,
Mr. Frank Detura, Mr. Donald Waller, and Mr. Albert Columbo.
