Bayonne Lions Club Press Release (5/3/06 BCN)

Bayonne Lions Club, chartered in 1947, announces a new scholarship supported by the Dorans family focusing on vocational and technical students. Named the John Dorans Vocational/Technical Scholarship, it will be awarded to a Bayonne High School student or vocational/technical student for the academic year 2006-2007.

There are many of our students who elect not to pursue professional or academic careers. The uniqueness of this, the first of many future vocational/technical Lions Club scholarships, is to support and encourage their technical advancement outside of a pure academic track.

The late John Dorans was a life long resident of Bayonne and a business leader in the community. His son Matthew, President of In-line Air Conditioning and officer of the Lions, established this scholarship in memory of his father's commitment to technical excellence.

Applications and details are available in the Bayonne High School Guidance Office. Deadline for submission is May 30th, 2006.
